Empowering Leaders to Create Thriving Workplaces

Wellbeing Ambassador Programme: Summary Impact Report 2020-2024

Foreword

The landscape of workplace wellbeing has changed dramatically. While many organisations offer reactive mental health support or one-off workshops, there remains a critical gap: the need for proactive, sustainable approaches to workplace wellbeing led by equipped and confident leaders.

This gap inspired the creation of the Wellbeing Ambassador Programme. Our vision is simple yet transformative: when every leader with line management responsibilities is trained to manage their own wellbeing, equipped with strength-based conversation tools, and able to embed evidence-based wellbeing practices into their workplace, we will see a fundamental shift in how organisations thrive.

Our Impact at a Glance

Since launching in 2020, our programme has demonstrated consistent impact across diverse organisations, from universities and schools to charities and a variety of corporate settings. Our data shows that participants experience significant positive changes:

  • 92% feel equipped to support others' wellbeing

  • 86% report improved personal wellbeing

  • 84% see enhanced work performance

  • 90% would recommend the programme to others

Evidence-Based Approach

Research conducted at Buckinghamshire New University validated our approach, demonstrating that when leaders engage with wellbeing training, they not only improve their own wellbeing but create supportive communities that foster positive change. Key findings showed that participants:

  • Actively learn and apply Positive Psychology Interventions

  • Form new relationships and create non-judgmental support networks

  • Experience renewed enthusiasm for their work

  • Develop better coping strategies for personal and professional challenges

Transforming Workplace Culture: Our Case Studies

Our impact extends across diverse sectors, with organisations reporting significant cultural shifts after implementing the Wellbeing Ambassador Programme. Here are some examples of our transformative work:

Supporting Front-Line Services

During the pandemic, we prioritised supporting organisations whose staff needed to continue working in person despite the risks. Our work with Blind Veterans UK exemplifies this approach:

"Clare's professionalism through design, delivery and evaluation was simply outstanding. Delivered to over 200 members of our staff team, their feedback tells us that this was a fantastically successful bespoke programme that has impacted extremely positively on individuals and which had added a new and positive narrative across the charity." - Mark Lovatt, Blind Veterans UK

Creating Sustainable Change

Our programme doesn't just provide temporary solutions - it empowers organisations to create lasting change:

"With my company director hat on, I think it's been fantastic, exactly what I envisaged and I really believe it can make a positive difference to wellbeing at Artesia... There's such a wealth of wellbeing guidance presented here in such an organised and coherent way that I think this is all I need to make some really positive changes." - Rob Lawson, Artesia Consulting

Programme Evolution and Innovation

Since our launch in 2020, we've continuously refined our approach based on participant feedback and emerging workplace needs:

  • Focused Leadership Development: Evolution from a broad two-day course to a targeted three-module training programme specifically for leaders, recognising their crucial role in workplace wellbeing

  • Practical Application: Reduction in theoretical content in favour of actionable tools that leaders can immediately implement

  • Flexible Delivery: Adaptation to both online and in-person delivery, ensuring accessibility and continued support throughout the pandemic

Participant Insights

Our participants consistently highlight several key elements of the programme:

Most Valued Components:

  • Interactive group work and peer learning

  • Practical wellbeing strategies

  • Strength-based approaches

  • Creation of safe spaces for open discussion

As one participant noted:

"Being with Clare in a group provided a powerful learning platform... she made the group inclusive, gave everybody an equal and safe platform in which they could voice their ideas."

Looking Forward: Our Vision for the Future

The workplace landscape continues to evolve, with employees increasingly prioritising wellbeing and seeking fulfillment in their roles. Our response to this shift is threefold:

  1. Programme Licensing: Expanding our reach by licensing the Wellbeing Ambassador Programme to qualified trainers across the country

  2. In-House Integration: Creating opportunities for organisations to embed the programme within their leadership development frameworks

  3. Cultural Transformation: Supporting leaders to implement compassion-led management practices that foster employee retention and workplace thriving
